| NEWSFLASH! | ||||||||||||||||
| Congratulations Advanced Band on your 6th place finish at State Concert Band Festival!! Our scores: Two of the judges gave us exactly the type of scores I was expecting. State judges give us a score based on points earned out of 100. One judge gave us a score of 92 points out of 100 (at District, that would have been a 1). The second judge gave us a score of 88 points out of 100 (that would have been a 2 at District). The third judge, from what I've heard from a lot of other band directors at State, averaged anywhere from 10-20 points lower than the other two judges all day Friday. She gave us a 79.5 out of 100 points (that would have been a 3 at District). Needless to say, I TOTALLY disagree with that score. To come up with our final ranking, they take an average of all three scores. Our final score, then, is a point total of 86.5 (a 2 at District). Again, I want to stress to you guys that you did an INCREDIBLE job Friday. You have never played better. Not only were the notes right, and not only did we play really well in tune, but we made all three pieces very musical and exciting to listen to, and that's all I can ever ask of my students. You were AWSOME. So, no matter what our final ranking turns out to be, I am incredibly proud of your performance and proud to call you my students. You represented our school beautifully in every possible way. There is a video of our performance on the NMAA site. I didn't know they were taping us until I got home Friday night and checked their website. When you get to the website below, look in the far right column labeled "recent archives". Our video is in "session 2" of the Concert Band Festival videos from Friday, April 23. The address is: www.nmaafilms.ezstream.com |
